Stйphane Lambiel, the 2006 Olympic silver medalist and a two-time World champion (2005-06), has split from his long-time coach to move to New Jersey and train at the Ice Vault. Lambiel recently parted ways with his coach of 13 years, Peter Grьtter. The Swiss star will train in Wayne, N.J. under the direction of 1992 Olympic gold champion Viktor Petrenko. After taking most of the 2006-07 season off Lambiel claimed the silver medal at the 2007 World Championships. In 2008, he finished fifth. Lambiel will start working towards the 2010 Olympic Winter Games under Petrenko and Petrenko's former coach and mother-in-law Galina Zmievskaya, according to the website swissinfo.ch. Already training at the Ice Vault with Zmievskaya is Johnny Weir, who won his first World medal, a bronze, at the 2008 World Championships. Petrenko, 38, is part of Weir’s coaching team. Weir has not commented on the move, but he has said he went to Zmievskaya, in part, for the exclusivity she offered.
